Higher Education Leadership Summit
November 9-10, 2012 in Fort Worth, Texas
Abilene Christian University Is proud to offer a voluntary leadership summit which focuses on administrative practices and leadership development in higher education. This event offers a chance for current ACU Higher Education students, as well as those considering the Master’s in Higher Education program, to visit some other universities to gain insights as to their practices and discuss current industry trends. This summit will consist of authors, outstanding practitioners and program alumni from different universities across the state of Texas.
The goals of this summit are to:
- Identify trending topics in the field of higher education.
- Provide leadership development by leading higher education professionals.
- Take advantage of our chosen location in Fort Worth, Texas by visiting visiting other higher education institutions.
- Provide students the opportunity to interact with peers, faculty and other higher education professionals from a range of institutions.
ACU’s Masters of Education program is intended to prepare the student to incorporate faith-based principals in a professional education setting. ACU strives to live out their 21st century vision outlined by the faculty, staff, and administration. This vision articulates ACU’s desire to become the premier university for the education of Christ-centered global leaders. To that end, we are pleased to offer this Higher Education Leadership Summit. This summit has been designed to create a more distinctive, compelling student experience to close the gap between the classroom and practice. We hope to see you there!

- Deepen your personal leadership philosophy and practice.
- Engage in conversation with influential leaders within higher education.
- Gain exposure to doctoral studies.
Please note: Attendance at this event will allow students of the Master’s in Higher Education program to reduce their practicum requirement by 25 hours.

Saturday, November 10th
8:30 am – 9:30 am: Breakfast and Practicum/Capstone One-on-One
9:00 am – 11:30 am: Campus Tour of Texas Christian University and Speaker Session

11:45 am – 1:15 pm: Prospective Student Lunch and Networking – Opportunity for prospective students to meet and network with faculty and current students and learn more about the program.
1:30 pm – 2:45pm: Speaker Session
Speaker – Steve Logan, Senior Executive Director of Residence Life and Housing at Southern Methodist University
2:45 pm – 3:00 pm: Wrap up & closing session
There are no registration fees associated with this Leadership Summit, however students are responsible for their individual travel expenses, meals and other personal expenses. Transportation to and from residency events and lunch on Saturday will be provided at no cost.
